Thank you [Philosophy Department and Religious Studies Program] for the excellent statement on the new tenure policy. It does seem clear that ISU is in the midst of ending the protection of free speech for tenured faculty by ending tenure as we have known it.

Because ISU has managed to get faculty to cooperate in this process and because the document does not say clearly what its goals are, the university protects itself from the outraged response of the faculties at U of Manitoba and U of Minnesota.

Groups like yours are performing a great service to the community at large. I hope your message is getting out widely across campus.
